Just a few weeks remain for submitting abstracts and scholarship applications for the 43rd annual San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium^® Dec. 8-12.

The COVID-19 pandemic has not diminished the need to share the latest research on the science and treatment of breast cancer, thought it has definitely made medical meetings challenging. The commitment by the SABCS organizers is strong. For more than four decades the annual conference has played a crucial role as the foremost global meeting for discussing advances in the science of breast cancer biology, treatment and survivorship. It will maintain that role, regardless of how the information is presented.

Scholarship and travel award applications are part of the abstract submission process. The scholarships and travel awards promote the education and professional development of early-career clinicians and scientists who are actives pursuing research in breast cancer by encouraging and facilitating their attendance to #SABCS20.

Scholarships will be awarded to graduate students, medical students, postdoctoral fellows, and physicians-in-training whose abstracts are accepted for presentation at #SABCS20, based on the quality of their abstracts. Applicants must provide certification on “in-training” status from the program director, must be noted as a presenter on a submitted abstract, must submit an application for a scholarship with the abstract, must upload a current CV, must register for and attend #SABCS20, and may not be a previous recipient of a scholarship or travel award.

The following awards are available:

• Coltman Scholars — In memory of Dr. Charles A. Coltman, co-founder of SABCS, to commemorate the significant contributions he made to oncology medicine. For clinical scientists-in-training.
• SABCS Clinical Scholars — For clinical scientists-in-training who are actively pursuing clinical or clinical/translational research in breast cancer.
• SABCS Basic Science Scholars — For laboratory-based investigators-in-training whose work focuses on the biology of breast cancer and preclinical models of its development and progression.
• AACR Scholar-in-Training Awards — For presenters of meritorious abstracts who are Association Members of the American Association for Cancer Research.

While information on the exact format of the conference is still pending, the need for abstracts remains unchanged. Global breast cancer investigators, scientists and treating physicians are urged to submit their abstracts in English at the portal on SABCS.org by noon Central Daylight Time on Tuesday, July 7.
