Advocate Program
The 14th Annual Advocate Program is sponsored by Alamo Breast
Cancer Foundation (ABCF), a non-profit 501[c]3 organization. This
San Antonio-based grassroots advocacy, educational, and support
organization was established for women and men with breast
cancer and for those concerned about breast cancer issues. ABCF
is active locally and nationally (as members of the National Breast
Cancer Coalition) in their goal to eradicate breast cancer in our
lifetime.
The 1st Annual Advocate Program was held in 1998, in conjunction
with the 21st Annual San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium, as an
educational program specially designed to address the needs of
patient advocates and those who support them. The program for
2010 will include Orientation, Dinner, Mentors Program, and Breast
Cancer Update for the grant recipients. 40-50 travel grants are expected to be available for 2011, pending receipt of sufficient grant
funds.
The administration of this program is handled entirely by Alamo
Breast Cancer Foundation. Their 2011 proposal will be mailed to a
select list in June, and we hope you will support their program in
addition to the 34th Annual San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium.
